Riyad as-Salihin, 156

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Do not ask me unnecessarily about the details of the things which I do not mention to you. Verily, the people before you were doomed because they were used to putting many questions to their Prophets and had differences about their Prophets. Refrain from what I forbid you and do what I command you to the best of your ability and capacity". [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

What is forbidden is to delve deep into issues that unnecessarily inconvenience the Muslim Ummah.
2) What Allah Almighty and His Messenger (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) left unaddressed, it is pardoned. In other words, we are neither obliged to do it or to leave it, which reflects the Mercy of Allah Almighty towards His servants.
3) Contradicting the guidance of the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) is a cause for disagreement and dispute among Muslims.
