  • [٧٠٨٩/ ٦٩٠٧]- (م ت س ق) معلى بن أسد العَمِّىُّ، أبو الهيثم البصرى الحافظ أخو بهز بن أسد.عن عبد العزيز بن المختار، ووهيب بن خالد وسلّام -بالتشديد- ابن أبي مطيع، وسلام - بالتشديد أيضًا - أبي المنذر، وأبو عوانة، وخلق. وعنه: (خ)، وحجاج بن الشاعر، وأحمد بن يوسف السلمى، والدارمى، وأبو قلابة، وأبو حاتم، وأبو هلال بن العلاء، وأبو مسلم الكجى، وخلق. قال العجلى: ثقة، كيس، معلم، وكان ثبتًا في الحديث، رجلًا صالحًا. كذا في "التذهيب" والظاهر أنه في أصله والذى رأيته في "ثقات العجلى" ما نصه: بصرى ثقة شيخ كيس وكان معلمًا. انتهى. وقال أبو حاتم: لم أعثر له على خطأ غير حديث واحد. قال ابن حبان - في "ثقاته": مات سنة (٢١٨) في رمضان.
