Sahih al-Bukhari, 1375
sahihNarrated Abi Aiyub:
Once the Prophet (ﷺ) went out after sunset and heard a dreadful voice, and said, "The Jews are being punished in their graves."

The Prophet ﷺ had [many] miracles that testify to the truthfulness of his message and his prophethood, one of which is his description of some of the events of the unseen, which Allah revealed to him. In this hadeeth, AbooAyyoob al-Ansaari(may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet ﷺ went outside the Madinah after sunset and heard a sound. This could have been the voices of the Angels of Punishment, or the sound of the punishment, or the voices of those who were being punished. He ﷺ explained that the Jews were being punished in their graves. If it is established that the Jews are punished in their graves, then naturally, it proves that all disbelievers and polytheists must be punished in their graves too, because their disbelief and polytheism are worse than the disbelief of the Jews. Allah does not reveal such an unseen event to anyone except Prophets and Messengers of His choice. Allah, Most High, said: {˹He is the˺ Knower of the unseen, disclosing none of it to anyone, except messengers of His choice. Then He appoints angel-guards before and behind them} [Quran 72:26-27] .
