The Prophet ﷺ guided his nation to every good and warned them against all that is evil, including informing us about the signs of The Hour which occur at the end of time - because believing in these signs and that they will occur is from believing in the unseen as well as believing in all that Allah Almighty and His Messenger say so that the faith of those who witness them be strengthened and resolute, and to handle these events appropriately. In this hadeeth, some of these signs are explained, where the Prophet ﷺ reports that Day of Resurrection will not come about until religious knowledge disappears from the earth. This part has been explained in other narrations that Allah, The Mighty and Majestic, does not remove it from the hearts of the people; but rather that He removes it from the earth via the death[s] of the scholars. Among the other signs [that will happen towards the end of time] are, the large amount of earthquakes, which will occur so frequently that the earth moves and [the ground] shakes violently, and the convergence of time, [to the point] where its blessings diminish. It has been said that the convergence of time has been explained in another hadeeth to mean, where a year [feels like] a month, and the month like a week, and a week like a [regular] day, and the day like an hour, and the hour passes by like it had kindled by a fire (ḍaramah) for [a single moment and then put out]. The Arabic word al-ḍaramahhere means: the time which has passed [appears] in the same manner as when a fire is lit and extinguished thereafter, and other interpretations have been said on this [as well]. Also included among the signs is the appearance of afflictions, which will increase as time goes on; something similar to the emergence of the Dajjaal(The Antichrist), and others. Another sign is the frequency of bloodshed, which the Prophet ﷺ expounded on it with his statement: “And it is killing”, where the blood of some Muslims is spilled by others without any right. Just as it is [mentioned] in a report in Ibn Majah from the hadeeth of Abu Musa al-Ashʿari(may Allah be pleased with him), where he narrates that he ﷺ said: “[There] will not be any killing of the polytheists. But rather, some of you will kill one another, even to where a man will kill his neighbour, the son of his cousin, and relatives.” Accordingly, the intended [meaning] of killing here is that Muslims will kill one another without regard for the sanctity of blood, religion, or familial ties. And among the signs included also is the abundance of wealth. It will spread to all of the people, and everyone will become rich with what they possess. It has been said that the wealth will be flowing [to all] during the time of ʿIsaa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him) after he kills the Dajjaal. From the other benefits that we can conclude from this hadeeth is that these are a few of the many signs that demonstrate the [miraculous] prophethood of our beloved Prophet, and that we should seek sacred knowledge. This is because the Messenger ﷺ told us about the seizure of religious knowledge, to indicate that we should beware of this and thus incessantly seek knowledge - so we do not fall into this state [of ignorance]. .
