أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَرْحُومُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَطَّارُ أَبُو عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ثَابِتًا الْبُنَانِيَّ، يَقُولُ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ وَعِنْدَهُ ابْنَةٌ لَهُ فَقَالَ جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَعَرَضَتْ عَلَيْهِ نَفْسَهَا فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَلَكَ فِيَّ حَاجَةٌ

English translation

Thabit Al-Bunani said:

"I was with Anas bin Malik and a daughter of his was with him. He said: 'A woman came to the Messenger of Allah and offered herself in marriage to him. She said: O Messenger of Allah, do you want to marry me?'"

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَرْحُومٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ امْرَأَةً، عَرَضَتْ نَفْسَهَا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَضَحِكَتِ ابْنَةُ أَنَسٍ فَقَالَتْ مَا كَانَ أَقَلَّ حَيَاءَهَا ‏.‏ فَقَالَ أَنَسٌ هِيَ خَيْرٌ مِنْكِ عَرَضَتْ نَفْسَهَا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏.‏

English translation

It was narrated from Anas that a woman offered herself in marriage to the Prophet. The daughter of Anas laughed and said:

"How little was her modesty." Anas said: "She was better than you; she offered herself in marriage to the Prophet."
