حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، وَمُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ دِثَارٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَكْرَهُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ الرَّجُلُ أَهْلَهُ طُرُوقًا ‏.‏

English translation

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) disapproved that a man should come to his family during the night (after returning from a journey).

‏ إِنَّ أَحْسَنَ مَا دَخَلَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى أَهْلِهِ إِذَا قَدِمَ مِنْ سَفَرٍ أَوَّلَ اللَّيْلِ ‏

English translation

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The best time for a man to go in to his family on return from a journey is at the beginning of the night.

‏ أَمْهِلُوا حَتَّى نَدْخُلَ لَيْلاً لِكَىْ تَمْتَشِطَ الشَّعِثَةُ وَتَسْتَحِدَّ الْمُغِيبَةُ ‏

‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ الطُّرُوقُ بَعْدَ الْعِشَاءِ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَبَعْدَ الْمَغْرِبِ لاَ بَأْسَ بِهِ ‏.‏

English translation

Jabir bin ‘Abd Allaah said “We were on a journey with the Messenger of Allaah(ﷺ). When we were going to come to our family, he said “Stay till we enter during the night, so that the disheveled woman combs herself and the woman whose husband has been away cleans herself. Abu Dawud aid “Al Zuhri said “(this prohibition applies) when one arrives after the night prayer. Abu dawud said “There is no harm in coming (to one’s family) after the sunset prayer.
